Deepesh Patel

Founder & Data Engineer

Deepesh Patel writes the engineering reference guides published on this site, covering data platform architecture, analytics, governance and production AI systems.

They are written for the person who has to operate the system afterwards: each one states the decision, the trade-offs on either side of it, the failure modes that follow, and what the recommendation does not cover.

Editorial method

How these guides are written.

Checkable against any article

  1. The decision comes first

Each guide opens with the decision it exists to settle, in a paragraph that stands on its own. If the answer is "it depends", the guide says what it depends on before it says anything else.

  2. Trade-offs on both sides

A recommendation is stated with the case against it and the failure modes that follow from taking it. A guide that only argues one direction is a sales page with headings.

  3. Vendor behaviour is cited, not asserted

Where a claim depends on how a specific platform actually behaves, it links that platform's own documentation. The reference list at the foot of each article is the working list, not decoration.

  4. The limits are written down

Every guide states what it does not cover. Scope stated up front is worth more to an architect than breadth claimed and not delivered.

Stated limits

What these guides do not claim.

Most author pages list what a person has done. This one also states what the writing deliberately stops short of, because a reader deciding whether to trust a technical recommendation is better served by a boundary than by a credential.

  • No guide on this site reports a client engagement, a benchmark or a measured result. Client work appears only in case studies, published with the client's approval.
  • Where an example is hypothetical, it says so in the text rather than in a footnote.
  • No partnership, certification or vendor affiliation is claimed anywhere on this site.
